Modelling between SOA and Compliance Management

November, 27th and 28th 2008 in Saarbrücken


On November 27th and 28th 2008 the GI-Symposium "Modeling Business Information Systems" (MoBIS 2008) took place at the German Research Center for Artifical Intelligence (DFKI) in Saarbrücken.

The symposium was arranged by the special interest group WI-MoBIS in cooperation with the special interest groups Business Process Management with Event-driven Process Chains (WI-EPK) and Component-oriented Business Application Systems (WI-KobAS). We sincerely thank Prof. Loos for his dedication to the special interest group and for the local organisation.

MoBIS 2008 offers a wide panel for the presentation and discussion of topics in the area of modeling of business information systems. Keymotive was the modelling between SOA and Compliance Management. Next to the main conference MoBIS the symposium also comprehended the tracks:

  • Business process management with event-driven process chains
  • Component based business application systems
  • Modeling of collaborative business processes

60 participants were able to listen to 32 speeches and gave throughoutly a most positive feedback about the conference. Next to interesting and exciting speeches the event offered the participants and speakers time for a common exchange, e. g. by visiting the "Saarbrücker Kasematten" on Wednesday evening or at the conference dinner on Thursday evening after the opening of the "Saarbrücker Christmas Market".

At the end of the symposium on November 28th the best presentation was selected and awarded by the participants. Furthermore, the Best Paper was nominated and awarded by a panel of experts. The Best Presentation Award went to Jörg Ackermann and the Best Paper Award to Dominik Birkmeier, Sebastian Klöckner and Sven Overhage. The next MoBIS Symposium will take place in Dresden in November 2010. Additionally, together with the special interest group EMISA, the EMISA 2009 will be held in conjunction with the Business Process Management Conference in Ulm.
