The ability to quickly react on changing market situations determines the success of companies of any size. The need for integrated problem solving methods, which allow an effective and flexible integration of business processes and information systems, is accordingly high.

Based on this background, the working group Component- and Service-Engineering
in cooperation with

• the institute of business informatics of the University St. Gallen (IWI-HSG) and

• the GI-research group component-based oriented application systems (WI-kobAS)

was involved in the organization of the track:

Business-, applications- and service integration

which took place from 21^st September until 22^nd September 2006 in Friedrichshafen.

The objective of the track was to show perspectives for the integration of business processes and business models as well as application systems by using component- and serviceoriented strategies.
