Augsburger ITS-Project is the winner of the contest "Campus online" |
|
On April 10th 2008 the "Stifterverband for German Science" announced that the IT-Service Center (ITS) of the University of Augsburg was one of the three winners of the contest "Campus online". The Chair of Business Informatics and Systems Engineering was significantly involved on the implementation of the ITS Center. 43 Universities took part at the contest and 10 finalists were invited to Berlin to present their concepts. All three winners received 100.000 Euro each for their project implementations.
For the evaluation of the presented concepts the Jury has focused on
model liabilities and transferability of the IaC strategies. The
concepts from Augsburg, Freiburg and Weimar have convinced the Jury
that on the basis of the given resources the efficiency of
administration- and business processes in research and teaching
considerably increased by usage of the IaC-technologies.
All three concepts were built upon existing structures, involved all
important lobbies and were primarily integrated in the central steering
structures of the university. "IaC is a matter for the board, and we
appreciate it" said Ingrid Becker from the company Scientia, partner of
the Stifterverband in the contest and member of the Jury.
With the view on the ITS project of the University of Augsburg,
which already was an award winner at the DFG-Innovation-Contest 2005
"Service center for research information - integrated information
management" the Jury accentuated that 3 part strategies were completed
to one IaC-corporate strategy. An integration strategy reunites old and
new processes, an innovation strategy checks new types of cooperation
and a service strategy optimizes the range of services offered and the
service orientation. With the ITS the University of Augsburg pursues a
local model, where the core competences retained to the respective
facilities through cooperation and resource bundling by the
IT-provider.
In this project the Chair of Business Informatics and Systems Engineering is especially responsible for
the business process analysis and - restructuring as well as the
conception and realization of a federate architecture where old IT
systems are involved and existing data and services are integrated to a
unique standardized perspective.
